Rose Otto Essential Oil: The Queen of Oils

For thousands of years, Rose Otto essential oil has been cultivated for beauty purposes.

There's a reason why this ingredient has been around for so long. If you've ever used this luxe ingredients in your skincare routine, you might have noticed the benefits of Rose Otto essential oil:

1. Softer, smoother skin. I used it on my face and could not believe the difference overnight- my face was so soft I couldn't stop touching it.

2. Reduced redness and inflammation, including small red veins or broken capillaries on face.

3. Balancing the overall tone of the skin and improving elasticity.

In the 17th century Bulgaria became the most established region for growing Rose. Their legacy and expertise make them the most coveted and expert source of oil to this day. We're proud to source organic Bulgarian Rose Otto oil and use it in our Rose and Vetiver Salve, as well as in our best-selling LAP Serum

So, what's the difference between Rose Otto and Rose Absolute? The method of distillation. Rose Otto is created from a double steam distillation using water, whereas Rose Absolute is extracted using chemical solvents. At LAPS, we keep it organic, using Rose Otto in combination with other naturally processed ingredients.

Did you know that roses are harvested in the early morning? This is when the flowers are the most open and oil content is the highest, leading to oooh and ahhhh worthy results for you.

Because it takes over 4000 kg of rose petals to create just 1 kg of oil (in addition to careful labor), this ingredient tends to be pricey— but the results are well worth it.

The scent of Bulgarian Rose Otto is complex, deeply rich, warm, floral and slightly spicy— like smelling a fresh bouquet from a lover. At LAPS we find it irresistible

Roses are strong spiritual symbols representing love, beauty, youth and immortality. Roses have been used for centuries in Greek, Roman, Chinese, Assyrian and Babylonian societies where they were known to celebrate the healing powers of the flower. Ancient cultures noted that Rose oil is particularly therapeutic for the heart and brain, both sharpening the senses and increasing life force. In China, it was noted by ancient herbalists that Rose "drives away melancholy."

Herbalists in France have used it for centuries to soothe and alleviate dermatological ailments.

Studies have been done on depressed women, noting that when inhaled "sexual orgasms and satisfaction increased." Ooooh lala! Overall, its noted properties are antidepressant, antiseptic, antiviral, aphrodisiac, astringent, sedative for the nervous system, and a tonic for the heart, liver, stomach and uterus.
